Shyp raises 10 million dollar series A, sets sights on NYC

It’s been a very exciting few months at Shyp. Since launching in San Francisco in March we’ve grown exponentially –  fulfilling over 15,000 shipments and growing our customer base by 20X. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. It’s clear consumers and businesses of all sizes need the Shyp service.

Today we’re very excited to announce that we’ve raised a 10M Series A, led by SherpaVentures, with Homebrew also participating. Scott Stanford from Sherpa Ventures will be joining Hunter Walk and our CEO, Kevin Gibbon and Co-founder Josh Scott, on Shyp’s board of directors.

“Investing in a service like Shyp is a natural fit for us,” said Scott Stanford, Co-founder at SherpaVentures. “Consistent with our investment experience in companies like Uber and Munchery, Shyp is a great example of the emerging On Demand Economy. Shyp is transforming an everyday mundane task into a delightful and empowering experience. We’re thrilled to welcome the Shyp team to the Sherpa family and tackle such a massive market in desperate need of disruption together.”

We have been overwhelmed with requests via Twitter and Facebook to bring Shyp to new cities. This new capital will be used to fuel our geographic expansion and we couldn’t be happier to announce that our second city will be New York City. As we plan for our full launch NYC this fall, we’ve opened this landing page for NYC dwellers to sign up to be the first to use the service.
